Society News

The Chairman wished everyone a happy New Year and welcomed back Maureen Waters after a hip operation. John Dickson sent his best wishes from Barbados and two cartoons based on topical issues.

The meeting was entertaining and informative as members talked about their own work. Whether it was done on location or in the studio from a sketch or a photograph or from imagination it was the sheer enjoyment of creating which shone through. Colin Challis took this opportunity to give an insight into the process of painting on porcelain. The Chairman said “Whatever method was used the importance was quality and originality.”

Although individual members had already contributed to the Haiti disaster fund they agreed that £50 should be sent from the Society.

The Chairman, Margaret Carver won the Picture of the Month with a water-colour entitled “Light Snow Fall – Fleggburgh.”

Members were asked to save their best work for the Annual Exhibition which will be from 10th September to 18th September 2010.
