Artist: Ginette Amis
Although born in Nottinghamshire I spent my early life in Derbyshire then lived in different locations before making Norfolk my home. I always loved drawing but only seriously took up watercolours in 1998, becoming a full member of this Society in January 2002.
Encouraged by my husband and family, I have continued painting watercolours while diversifying, working with ink, mixed media and now coloured pencil. This year I became a member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society and am fascinated by the subtlety and complexity of what, in this country, is a relatively new medium. My aim remains as ever to convey my love of people in portraits but more so in scenes that capture the quirkiness of everyday interactions between individuals and their environment. I also paint flowers, still-life and the occasional landscape – as long as I can include the odd hiker, that is.
