Artist: Vivien Robinson
Vivien is a mostly self taught artist and first took up painting flowers in water colour in 1980 while living in Jakarta with her husband. With plenty of free time on her hands she was inspired to paint orchids as the house where they were living backed onto a commercial orchid garden. By the mid-1980s the family moved to Thailand where Vivien had the opportunity to study Chinese brush painting with Mr Lim Eow (acknowledged to be the premier exponent of traditional Chinese painting in Thailand). She found this training, although very disciplined, to be a great benefit to her skill of handling a brush and when working in water colour still prefers to use Chinese brushes.
After their return to England in 1991 Vivien went to the Yarmouth College of Further Education and took a GCSE A level course in Art and Design passing with an AS grade. During this time she learned and enjoyed working in many different mediums. Vivien has always liked experimenting and has recently developed a mixed-media style of working in ink and pastel which she finds an exciting change.
Vivien's work has been sold in Australia, the Far East and the United Stated as well as many parts of England.
